Holistics Esthetics, Solaris Mont Kiara

One of my favourite spas right now is Holistics Esthetics. I've been to the outlet in Bangkung on and off for a while and its always a good experience. No harm trying out their second outlet right? In upmarket Solaris Mont Kiara?

WRONG!

When I called up, the receptionist was friendly and I made an appointment, very much looking forward to a nice massage and facial after a tiring day.

Let's start off with the plus points. Everyone has been well coached in being very friendly.
The staff here are all smiles. There is an easy going manner about this place.

Then come the negatives, of which there are too many.
  • The masseuse was overly friendly. I'm always polite as a person but that doesn't mean that I enjoy being told out of the blue whilst lying on my front (with my face in that cutout).... that your friend cannot stand working here and wants to leave. Eh? What suddenly brought that on.....I definitely don't look like I can hire a personal masseuse so I just nodded , kept quiet and made like I wanted to sleep- which is true!
  • If you've gone to many spas before, you'd know what is a good massage and what is not. This was not. Her touch was all wrong and all thumbs. It was the first time I've ever been put into a strange and uncomfortable position with my arm yanked up high above my head so that the masseuse could push her thumbs forcefully into my armpit. Or my sides or back of my knees. You can generally say that the massage was not relaxing, nor indulgent.
  • The toilet was not clean. I didn't trust to sit on the toilet seat.
  • There are no proper rooms - just space divided by curtains which are not even pulled across completely. I could hear the staff's' conversations, phone calls, along with the noises made from the customer next door. Where's the privacy?

You know, with time, I've discovered to my horror that some masseuses tend to belch while working.

It is awful.

How can a woman feel pampered- lying down nude except for a paper panty and eye mask- while a stranger above her burps away every 10 minutes or so. Over her back or face. eww......*shudder*

Thankfully this time, my masseuse wasn't the one doing the belching. It was coming from the room next to me. So it was either the masseuse or the customer. I feel so sorry for the victim.
Even if you're trying to relax and sleep, or work....its disturbing (to put it mildly) if you keep hearing: "urrrrrrrrrppppp!" "uuuuuuuuurrrrppppp!"

I pray never to come across someone who farts mid massage! (well, air is coming out one way or another)

As for the facial, whilst having my makeup removed, I was told that my skin is "quite ok" but very dry. All this is true. Thereupon comes the Sothys sales pitch. 25 minutes after she finds out that I have an ongoing package elsewhere and go for facials often- a masque is slapped on me and I'm left there to chill and reflect on how much I need to purchase the RM600+ discounted set. It was pretty darn cold in that room.

I find that both facials and massages here are done with a heavy hand. Basic cleansing and perfunctory extraction all done roughly and in a hurry, there is ample time left for package signing or to purchase any products.

Since I've used the Bangkung outlet and recognize the standards and service given there, I expected the same here but it failed. When I was led like a lamb to slaughter (all ladies, we know its coming, right?) into that consultation room after- I'm sure my dissatisfaction showed on my face so she didn't even need to ask if I had enjoyed the sessions.

Thank you but I will recommend and patronize the other branch.
